Engineering Insurance

Engineering Insurance coverage consists of the following parts:

  • Construction "all-risks" coverage: an "all-risks" cover of physical loss of or damage to specified property, where "all-risks" is defined as the insurance policy assuring all conceivable risks unless an exclusion applies. Insured property may include the construction materials, equipment, plant, and machinery.

  • Public liability: protection against legal liabilities arising from bodily injury, or loss or damage of property, caused to any third party in the course of construction work.

  • Employee compensation: according to section 40 of the Employee Compensation Ordinance (Cap. 282), Hong Kong employers are obliged to take out insurance to cover liabilities for casualties at work in respect of all your employees.

    • The statutory minimum insurance amount is HK$100 million per event if the number of employees does not exceed 200,

    • HK$200 million per event if the number of employees exceeds 200, and

    • You are advised to carefully assess the risks involved and maximum liability to determine the suitable amount under this part of your cover.
